Marion Fire Chief Geoff Williams has proposed new policies for his department that he hopes will clarify many that haven’t always been understood.
Williams presented the new written rules to the city Board of Works Monday, wanting board members to review them and get back with him on any questions or changes they may have. Williams says he’s also given them to the Firefighters Union for review.
The Chief says he simply wants everyone to be on the same page when it comes to the department’s rules.
Williams wants to review the new rules and then talk about any changes that might be needed. He hopes to have them ready for adoption sometime early next year.
Williams also recommended that Current Assistant Fire Chief Jason Hale be promoted to fill an open Captain’s position on the department. The Board of Works approved that request. Williams is now accepting applications for the vacant Assistant Chief’s position.
